Roblox claims rest on two kinds of evidence: what happened to your child, and what the platform knew. The second kind lives on the company’s servers and is obtained through discovery. The first kind lives on a device in your house, and it is far easier to lose than people expect.

Step one: freeze the device

Stop using it. Do not factory reset, do not uninstall Roblox or any messaging app, do not delete conversations even if they are painful to see. Put it in airplane mode and set it aside. If law enforcement is involved, they may collect it; if not, a participating firm can arrange forensic preservation. Deleted data is sometimes recoverable, but intact data is always better.

Step two: capture what you can see

01

Screenshots. The Roblox username and profile of the other account, friend lists, chat history, any experiences or games where contact occurred. Include the date and time visible on screen where possible.

02

Off-platform apps. Discord servers, Snapchat, TikTok, or text threads where the conversation moved. Screenshot usernames, IDs, and the earliest messages, not just the worst ones — the beginning shows how contact was initiated.

03

Financial trail. Robux purchases and gifts, gift card codes, payment app transfers. Bank and card statements showing charges. These document the grooming pattern and are often the clearest timeline.

You do not need to read all of it. You need to keep all of it. A participating firm's investigators will review the content so you don't have to.

Step three: build the paper record

Reports

Create dated records
  • In-platform report to Roblox, with confirmation
  • NCMEC CyberTipline report number
  • Police report, if made
  • School counselor or pediatrician notes

Account details

Write down now
  • Your child's Roblox username and account email
  • Account creation date and age setting used
  • Parental controls that were enabled
  • Any prior reports you made about other accounts

The account-settings details matter more than they seem. A central allegation in the litigation is that controls parents enabled did not function as represented. Showing what you had turned on is evidence.

Step four: document the impact

Keep a simple log: sleep changes, school issues, therapy appointments, medications, and anything your child says about the experience, in their words. Keep every bill from counselors, physicians, and any treatment. Damages in these cases include the cost of care and the effect on a child’s life, and contemporaneous notes are far stronger than memory a year later.

What not to do

Do not contact the other account. Do not post about it publicly. Do not accept any communication from the platform as a resolution. Do not agree to any settlement or release without a lawyer reviewing it. And do not wait: deadlines vary by state, and while many states have extended them for child abuse claims, the evidence on your devices does not extend itself.

What this means if you're considering a claim

You do not need to complete this checklist before requesting a review. Start with what you have. A participating firm will tell you what else matters and can arrange professional preservation. The point is to protect your options while you decide.

Common Questions

I already deleted the app. Is the evidence gone?

Not necessarily. Forensic recovery is often possible, and Roblox’s own records exist independently. Stop using the device and mention this during the review.

Should I give the device to police?

If you have made a police report and they request it, yes. Note the date and get a receipt. Tell the participating firm so they can coordinate.

Can Roblox delete records of the other account?

Companies have legal duties to preserve evidence once litigation is reasonably anticipated. A firm can send a preservation demand promptly.

Do I need to keep my child's account active?

No. Change the password, remove the contact’s access, and stop using it — but do not delete it.

Is the review free?

Yes. Participating firms typically work on contingency. Confirm terms in writing.
